A New Travel Companion

A black, merry, enthusiastic and (mostly) obedient bundle has entered my life —
Levi, the English Cocker Spaniel, born April 27, 2010.

I picked Levi up from Tiarna on 23rd January and we immediately headed south to cooler climes, stopping at Rockingham for the night and finding it to be such a lovely spot spent 4 nights there.

Our camping spot was at the horse swimming beach which is also a dog walking beach. It's down near the CBH wheat silos and bulk grain wharf at Kwinana.

I'm not sure if Levi had encountered horses before but he didn't turn a hair or bark. He just trotted along behind them being quite captivated by their swaying tails — thank goodness … it turned out that some of these horses are prime racing stock. One of them, Mr Moet, who according to his trainer Adam, is a $1,000,000 race winner! He certainly is a very handsome horse.

Once Levi hit the beach he was in seventh heaven — running free (and coming back when called), meeting lots of new playmates, both big and small and being really sociable with each and every one of them.

Rockingham is a lovely unspoiled beachside town, with a tree-lined main street and lots of yummy cafes along the beachfront which we forced ourselves to visit for breakfast and lunch.
Levi is proving to be an ideal travelling dog and is learning the essential puppy cafe skills —
  • make sure you get the prime position beside your human's chair so you can beam your thoughts straight to them with no interference.
  • smile winningly at the waiter so they bring you some refreshments
